About Brooklyn Advisors
Executive coaching, team coaching and OCTET CEO peer advisory for leaders in Rochester, Buffalo and New York City.
We believe better leadership starts with better perspective.
The people inside an organization know the business best. But they are also part of it. Employees, boards, investors and professional advisors each see the company through a particular lens.
Brooklyn Advisors exists to provide another one: experienced perspective from outside the organization.
Sometimes that happens one-to-one. Sometimes with a leadership team. Sometimes through strategic advisory. And sometimes the most valuable perspective comes from a carefully chosen group of peers.
The form changes. The philosophy doesn’t.
Eight Unique Perspectives. Clarity of Vision.
An octagon has eight sides, and its angles add up to 1080 degrees. That’s the idea behind OCTET: eight leaders, each bringing their own angle, together seeing far more than any one of them could alone.
It works the way a musical octet does. Eight players each carry their own part, and the music comes from how they perform together.
Why we started OCTET
OCTET grew from a simple belief: peer advisory is powerful, but the traditional model can be designed better.
We wanted smaller boards where every CEO had meaningful time. Meetings that respected the demands of running a company. Board directors who could coach and mentor from real operating experience. And a structure priced so that small and mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations could realistically participate.
That became OCTET.
Smaller boards, less time away from the business
Who really wants to sit in an eight-hour meeting? Each OCTET CEO board is eight non-competing leaders matched by stage and scale, small enough that every member gets real time on their issues every month. Meetings run four hours, so you stay sharp from start to finish and get back to your business the same day.
Facilitation and mentoring from former CEOs and C-suite professionals who’ve done the work
We believe CEO peer advisory board directors should be able to mentor and coach. Your board is led by someone who has run companies and is trained to coach, not a moderator reading an agenda. Every member also gets a private 90-minute coaching session each month, focused on you: how you lead, how you decide, and what’s getting in your way. Along the way you learn what’s working in other businesses and take it back to yours.
Forum 1080ˣ: learning across every board
Eight times a year, members of all OCTET boards come together for roundtables and workshops with subject-matter experts. These sessions are separate from your board meeting. They’re held in the late afternoon and finish with time to network with the wider OCTET CEO community. More people sharing means more learning. About Forum 1080ˣ →
Built for small and mid-sized organizations, for-profit and non-profit
Peer advisory shouldn’t be reserved for the biggest or most profitable companies. OCTET is priced and structured to be within reach of owner-led businesses, growing companies and non-profit leaders, the organizations that make up most of our economy and get the least support.
See whether OCTET fits where you are.
A short conversation about your business and what you’re working on. No pitch.
