Brooklyn Advisors is a member of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and works with CEOs, owners and leadership teams throughout Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
Brooklyn Advisors also convenes small, candid CEO Roundtables in Rochester, bringing local business leaders together with subject-matter experts to examine issues affecting privately held companies.
Growth creates new demands. Leadership teams need to evolve. The people who helped build the company may not be the people it needs next.
And the decisions that matter most are often the ones that are hardest to work through with the people who report to you.
You don’t need more people telling you what to do.
You need people who understand what is at stake, ask better questions, challenge your assumptions and help you see what you may be too close to see.
If there’s a decision on your desk right now, let’s talk it through.
Book a Free Conversation →Our 1:1 work isn’t built around a coaching formula. We work through what’s actually happening: a leadership problem you haven’t resolved, a growth decision with competing risks, an executive who isn’t developing quickly enough, a succession question, an acquisition opportunity, or simply the need to get outside your own thinking before making an important decision.
We work with Rochester leadership teams to address the things that get in the way: unclear accountability, competing priorities, difficult conversations that aren’t happening, decisions that keep returning to the CEO, and executives who function well individually but not yet as a team. The work happens around the real business — not a generic team-building curriculum.
On strategy, we help CEOs and leadership teams examine the assumptions behind the plan, challenge choices, establish priorities and turn strategy into decisions people can actually execute. Sometimes that means a focused strategic planning engagement. Sometimes it means an ongoing outside perspective as the company works through growth, transition or change.
OCTET brings together carefully selected CEOs, presidents and owners from non-competing Rochester-area businesses for a monthly private board session.
Members bring the decisions and problems that are difficult to solve inside their own companies. The other seven members bring something an internal team can’t: independent perspectives shaped by running businesses of their own.
OCTET membership also includes monthly 1:1 coaching and advisory.
Eight Perspectives. Measurable Impact.
Peer advisory works best over time. The value comes from building trust, understanding one another’s businesses, and developing the kind of candid relationships that make the board more useful month after month.
OCTET was designed to make high-quality peer advisory and executive coaching accessible to leaders of small and mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations — without compromising the quality of the experience.
Rochester’s pedigree is real. Kodak, Xerox and Bausch + Lomb set a standard for engineering and manufacturing excellence that still shapes the region. The University of Rochester and RIT keep the talent and research pipeline full. And high-tech manufacturing is growing again, with Luminate and its sister accelerators putting real attention and resources behind the next generation of optics, photonics and deep-tech companies.
That’s good for Rochester.
But most Rochester businesses aren’t startups, and they aren’t Kodak. They’re established, privately held companies (manufacturers, distributors, contractors, service firms, family businesses) with real revenue, real payrolls, and a CEO making the important calls largely alone.
Accelerators are built for founders at the beginning. Large corporations have boards, deep management benches and strategy teams. The company in the middle usually has a banker, an accountant and an attorney, and no one whose job is to help the CEO think.
That’s the company Brooklyn Advisors is built for.
